Our Parish
Holy Myrrh-Bearers Ukrainian Catholic Church is a welcoming parish rooted in the faith and traditions of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. We gather to worship God, grow in faith, and serve one another and our wider community.

Our Ukrainian Catholic Faith
We are part of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic Church
in full communion with the Pope of Rome. We worship according to the Byzantine tradition,
with its rich liturgy, icons, prayer, and spirituality.
Our parish welcomes everyone — you do not need to be Ukrainian
to pray with us or become part of our community.
Our History
Our History
Holy Myrrhbearers Ukrainian Catholic Church opened its doors for worship in 2015. The parish was a merger of Holy Ghost UC church in Chester and Sts Peter & Paul UC Church in Clifton heights. The church occupies the former Leiper Presbyterian Church building and property which had closed in 2012.
Under the direction and guidance of Archbishop Stefan Soroka and then pastor, Fr. John Ciurpita, the church building and church addition were renovated.
The church integrates many of the original furnishings of the former churches. The iconostas from Holy Ghost church was installed to create a prayerful connection to the history of the faithful members of Chester and Delaware County.
The opening Divine Liturgy was celebrated in April of 2015.
It is open to all seeking a spiritual connection with God through Jesus Christ in an Eastern Catholic theology and practice. All are welcome!
